Improved Cooking Stove (ICS) Installation Program
VOSD has been installing the Improved Cooking Stove (ICS) and Solar Cooker (SC) installation program from 1997 with the support of ANANDO organisation and installed 230 improved cooking stoves and 55 solar cookers in Uzirpur Upazilla of Barisal District successfully and still those ICSs and SCs are continuing properly. Then VOSD had been installed 6500 ICS in Uzirpur and Barisal Sadar Upazillas of Barisal District with the support of GIZ and SG. Now VOSD has been installing ICSs with the support of IDCOL and has been installed 3500 ICS in Uzirpur and Barisal Sadar Upazillas and continuing ICSs installations. It has trained staffs, volunteers and community initiators, who have been trained by the IDCOL, GIZ and ANANDO organisation. It has established three ICS production centres in Uzirpur and Barisal Sadar and producing ICSs and supplying continuously. The community people have become aware and they have become interested to install ICSs and SCs in their homestead and demand has created among the community people, because, they are getting different benefits for the ICSs and SCs like smokeless, reduced 50% consumption of the fuel woods, easy to cook, improve women’s health, reduced fuel costs, speedy cooking, reduced dirty-ness, saved natural resource destructions, emit less carbons, reduced air contaminations, and improve environmental conditions. Developed local initiators to produce ICSs and they are earning from ICSs sales.
